Day #3 P90X
Knocked out my 3rd day of P90X! I have to admit I was a little tired today and got a pretty late start, but my wife and I pushed play and got it done. I will say, keeping up with my running while doing this in conjunction with my Army physical training is not super easy, but I feel great doing it all. The key is to really ensure that you are getting enough clean calories to carry on and enough rest. You have got to give your body the fuel it needs, I like to use vegan tropical strawberry shakeology, in conjunction with a high carb low-fat vegan diet. I was once one of those people that thought I could not live without meat in my diet. However, the more I studied nutrition on my own and in college, I got determined to change my life for the better and went for it. I have been vegan for 7 months now with only a handful of meals here and there where I had some cheat taking place and a few of those were travelling from overseas with the Army and the options were cheat a little or not eat. I think not eating is even unhealthier than eating the wrong foods.

Day #1 P90X
Started P90X with my wife Renee today! I have done several weeks of it in the past while deployed, and have done about 6 weeks of Insanity before as well. However, this time I am blasting through the whole routine! Motivated to just push play everyday. I am about 40 pounds down from November/December 2011, and feeling great. I 100% believe that Beach Body as a whole is a company that can help you reach your health and fitness goals. It might even make you, or at least save you, a little money along the way! Anyone interested in making a change in their life alongside me can e-mail me to get more info. Beware, I can only help those that are prepared to help themselves. The work, time, and commitment will all come from you!

Vegan Shakeology
I got my vegan Shakeology in the mail today! I have been wanting to add this to my breakfast routine since I got back from deployment. I will have a little more feedback on it in the coming days, but I am really excited that Beachbody has realized the benefits of vegan and vegetarian eating. While I am staying full vegan my wife is following the vegetarian plan found in the Team Beachbody website, which does allow for dairy and eggs. In saying that, you can modify the plans to avoid these items if you so choose.

Capt'n Karls 60K at Pedernales Falls
I am proud to say that this weekend I completed my first ultra-marathon trail run. It was a 60 kilometer (37.2 mile) run conducted mostly in the dark. I was able to finish in an admirable, for me at least, 8 hour and 29 minute time span. I was really happy with my time. I would encourage anyone to train for and attempt something like this. It provided a real sense of accomplishment for me, and helped bolster the fact that my new low-fat vegetarian diet is really uplifting my health despite the naysayers. Capt'n Karls race site
